Chapter 2 tells the story of an incredible journey. Over 30 years ago, its casks still contained Portuguese port wine from the Quinta do Mourao in the Duro Valley. After the red wine had removed most of the tannins from the wood, these barrels were ready for their second purpose. Namely for the ageing and storage of fine tawny port. The Braga family guarded their high-quality barrels like a treasure for several generations. We are absolutely convinced of our two-stage maturation and were convinced that these very barrels would also give a single malt whisky an incomparable character. And indeed: these casks spent the last five years of their journey in Thurgau and gave our Chapter 2 whisky its affectionate name: "The Lifecycle of a Cask".
