Maturation of Swiss Premium Whisky
The finishing, i.e. the maturation process of the macardo distillates, takes place in carefully selected casks. These impart their exquisite flavour to the Swiss Premium Whiskies. In addition to the type of wood, size and wall thickness, what was previously stored in a cask – for example, sherry, port, whisky or wine – is also a decisive factor.
The macardo cask store
The cask store is macardo’s treasure trove and is also a world first. Innovation, made in Switzerland. It was developed in collaboration with the Winterthur University of Applied Sciences. Each cask rests on a steel support. Every support is fitted with a sensor. A perfectly controlled microclimate prevails here for the whisky’s maturation.
The macardo Whisky Range
Our standard range includes macardo Single Malt Whisky and Swiss Thurbon Whisky, made from maize, barley and rye. We also stock limited-edition whiskies in our range, available either at 42% ABV or at cask strength. Our spring water comes from limestone-rich soils, just like in the home of bourbon, Kentucky. We then mash all three grains together. Afterwards, we distil the mixture over a wood fire and allow the new make to mature in new, internally toasted American white oak casks.
