Self-burned virus killer from Thurgau

In Amlikon-Bissegg, a distillery produces disinfectants. The villagers are also involved.

It sounds like a booze idea. But there's more to it than that. Because disinfectants are in short supply, more and more distilleries are switching from producing high-proof alcohol for drinking to producing alcohol for disinfecting hands. However, this requires donations from the home bar.

500 liters collected

Rum, gin, whiskey, brandy: spirits of all kinds are in demand. In the municipality of Amlikon-Bissegg, Werkhof employees have been collecting these bottles over the past few days.

The campaign was started by the local distillery Macardo. All in all, around 500 liters of spirits have been donated. This produces 200 liters of disinfectant with 80 percent by volume.

Proceeds go to a good cause

The people of Amlik can now buy their disinfectant in the village store. The proceeds will go to a good cause. It will be used to support people in the community who are short of money.
