VINUM's Top 100 Rums

With 18.5 points, Macardo Senor Rum takes first place in the "Alpine" category.

The world of rum is increasingly coming into focus, and so VINUM has also taken up this diverse and exciting topic with a comprehensive rum dossier. For the tasting part, more than 250 different rums of various provenances were tasted. The tasting team Nicole Harreisser, VINUM editor, Arthur Nägele, spirits academy and Oliver Hasenohr, spirits sommelier determined the TOP 100 in a blind tasting.

The selection of rum on the market is growing more and more, even if the variety of gins is still a long way off. Among connoisseurs, the passion and passion for rum are growing more and more, because the times of perceiving rum primarily as a cocktail ingredient are a thing of the past. The noble spirit seduces due to its multilayered flavors to always new discoveries. The background and knowledge of rum can be found in the dossier, as well as cocktail tips from Chef de Bar Pat Braun and the best bars for exceptional rum enjoyment.

The TOP 100 includes well-known, renowned producers from the traditional rum-producing countries of the Caribbean as well as artisanal distilleries. The two highest-rated rums, with 19.5 points, come from Barbados and Jamaica, two of the classic rum-producing countries. Not far behind, with 18.5 points in the "Alpine" category, are rums from Switzerland and Germany: the Señor Rum from Macardo in Thurgau and the Bavarian Rums from Simon's Feinbrennerei. Some retailers also create their own rums, to which they give their own signature with special barrel finishes.

A total of 28 rums scored 18 or more points, with the midfield scoring 16.5 to 17.5 points.
