Frequently asked questions about the B&B
At Macardo Premium B&B you are welcome from 2pm to midnight thanks to innovative digital check-in.
On arrival please check in at the check-in terminal to the left of the main entrance (ID or passport required) and credit card in case the room is not yet paid for.
After you have entered your data in the system, you will receive a white room card from the machine. The machine will also print out a receipt for you. On this is your room number, the Wi-Fi password and the hotline number.
The room card gives you access to your room and the Honesty Smokers/Cocktail Lounge. If you also order an underground parking space, you will also have access to the garage with your room card.

As we are a Bed & Breakfast, we only offer breakfast.
When you book a room with us we will send you a list of restaurants where you can eat in the area a few days before your arrival.
Dogs are welcome at the B&B ONLY in the felt rooms (these rooms have parquet floors). Please let us know when booking if you are coming with a dog. The cost per dog per night is 15.- €.
We will provide a water bowl & dog blanket and your dog will also get a small treat from us. If it's bad weather - ask for a dog towel to rub your darling dry after a walk. You are also welcome to take your dog on a leash to breakfast and to our Honesty Bar & Smokers Lounge.
Children are welcome.
- Children up to 3 years are free of charge as long as they stay in their parents' bed or in their own brought bed.
- A child under 3 years pays CHF 20.- per night for a baby crib.
- An older child or adult pays CHF 60.- per night for an extra bed.
- The rooms can accommodate a maximum of 1 extra bed.
- For small children we have high chairs for breakfast.
We do not have a play corner, children's toys or a children's playground.
Honesty Cocktails-Smokers Lounge is open for hotel guests daily from 11 am to midnight. With your room card you have access to the bar.
Our self-service bar works on the Honesty principle. You serve yourself and pay afterwards with TWINT or card. Please clean up your place before you leave the bar. Consumptions cannot be booked to the room.
- In the courtyard or at the bus stop right next to the building - free of charge.
- Deep garage space for car, CHF 10.- per night - please reserve in advance.
- Underground parking for motorcycles, CHF 7.- per night - please reserve in advance.
- Charging station electric cars - In the courtyard and in the garage can be used for a fee. The easiest way is to use the app from www.ecarup.com.
- Electric bike charging station - Can be used free of charge in the garage.

Cancellation of room reservation:
rooms can be cancelled under the following conditions:
- up to 4 days before arrival (2 p.m.): Free of charge for individual travelers, for group bookings of 3 rooms or more 50% of the booking costs
- up to 3 days before arrival (2 pm): 50% of the booking costs
- up to 48 hours before arrival (2 pm) 100% of the booking costs

Directions to the B&B
From Frauenfeld and Weinfelden you can reach us with the Postbus line 838.
The bus stop "Fimmelsberg / Kreuz" is directly in front of our house.
On the direct way or connected with a nice tour.
In Veloland Thurgau many paths lead to Strohwilen. Here you will find a selection of possible routes.
From the area Konstanz / Kreuzlingen follow the A7 to junction 5, Grüneck, and then road no. 14 towards Weinfelden. At the height of Märstetten, leave the traffic circle in the direction of Wil / Münchwilen and turn right in Junkholz at the sign Fimmelsberg, Thundorf, Frauenfeld into Frauenfelderstrasse. After just under one kilometer you will reach Macardo.
From the St.Gallen / Rhine Valley area follow the A1 in the direction of Zurich until exit 76, Münchwilen. First follow the signs Münchwilen / Sirnach and then the signs towards Weinfelden. In Tobel / Tägerschen turn left into Wilerstrasse (16) in the direction of Konstanz, Kreuzlingen, Affeltrangen, Tobel. After about 5 kilometers, just before the hamlet of Bänikon, turn left into Sonnenhofstrasse. After about one kilometer you will reach Macardo.
From the Zurich area first follow the A1 in the direction of St.Gallen and from freeway junction 73, Winterthur Ost, the A7 in the direction of Konstanz. At junction 5, Grüneck, follow the signs to Romanshorn, Müllheim, Weinfelden and drive to Märstetten. There you leave the traffic circle in the direction of Wil / Münchwilen and turn right in Junkholz at the sign Fimmelsberg, Thundorf, Frauenfeld into Frauenfelderstrasse. After about one kilometer you will reach Macardo.

Five minutes away from Macardo Premium B&B begins a wonderful hike to enjoy the Thurgau nature.
Sport, leisure, recreation
Thurgau offers everything your heart desires. Hikers and cyclists get their money's worth here, as do water sports lovers. The shore of Lake Constance in Kreuzlingen is only 16 km away from Macardo (20 minutes by car). Not far from there, the Sea Life Konstanz, the islands Mainau and Reichenau as well as the ferry to Meersburg attract visitors. And if you like it racy, you can reach the go-kart track Fimmelsberg in 2 minutes by foot. You can find more tips in your room at the Premium B&B!

On the southern shore of Lake Constance, the landscape of the Thurgau spreads out on gentle hills. A region that looks like it was modeled for cycling. Great vantage points, wide river valleys and 900 kilometers of signposted routes on secondary roads and agricultural tracks make Thurgau a paradise for cyclists. Whether pleasure cyclists, families, e-bikers or racing cyclists: with the variety of routes, there is a suitable route for every taste and age.
